Air Ambulance Raises Money with Christmas Concert at Guildford Cathedral

The Air Ambulance does incredibly important work around the country, with Guildford as a town often doing things to help the organisation raise money to continue operating. When Christmas comes around, there are many different excuses to engage in a bit of carol singing, but perhaps none are as important as the concert that is held in aid of the Air Ambulance crew. This year, the concert is due to take place on the tenth of December, meaning that most people will be very much in the swing of things and preparing for Christmas to come, so if that’s you then this will be right up your alley.

What It’s All About

Air Ambulance Surrey logoEach year, the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance hosts a carol concert. The 2025 iteration of that event is scheduled to take place on the tenth of December, with Guildford Cathedral as the host venue. Whilst the chance to spend a small amount of time in such an auspicious location will appeal to most people on its own, this is even more enticing thanks to the fact that you get to belt your heart out singing some much-loved Christmas carols. Not only that, but the cathedral will look magical thanks to the fact that the entire thing is candlelit.

Whilst those of you that either enjoy a good sing-song or else love the sound of your own voice will be delighted to hear that the carol concert positively encourages those in attendance to sing along, anyone that is a little more on the shy side will be pleased to know that it isn’t a prerequisite of buying a ticket and attending. There will be plenty of stirring music to get you in the Christmas spirit, as well as some powerful stories told by the Air Ambulance crew about their experiences offering life-saving care to people throughout the Kent, Surrey and Sussex area.

The Money-Raising Experience

Air Ambulance Christmas concert

Obviously, the ticket prices will see some money go towards the Air Ambulance service when you decide to spend money on your attendance, but there is more going on to help money be raised. You can, for example, offer a donation in exchange for a mince pie and some non-alcoholic mulled wine. There are also both Christmas cards and calendars on sale, with the money raised going to the Air Ambulance’s vital work in saving lives. Not only that, but you will also be able to simply make donations of your own, or set up a direct debit in order to pay on a regular basis.

Whilst the Air Ambulance would obviously welcome any and all donations towards the running of the service, there is an acceptance and appreciation of the fact that some people feel as though they need something in return for their generosity. With this in mind, the evening itself offers plenty for you to feel as though you’re getting your money’s worth. The uplifting music of the night is provided by the Guildford Cathedral Singers, as well as Guildford School of Acting, whilst the Epsom & Ewell Silver Band will be playing accompanying music through the night.

When & Where

Guildford Cathedral

As mentioned, the carol concert is scheduled to take place at Guildford Cathedral on the tenth of December. The venue is known as the People’s Cathedral and promises a warm welcome. It will be decorated to celebrate the festive period, although it is obviously an evening that is open to both the religious and the non-religious alike. The landmark of the town saw construction begin in 1936 and it was finished thanks to the generosity and work of thousands of people from the area, coming together in the wake of the Second World War to ensure that it was all finished.

The evening gets underway at 7.30pm and there are two ticket types available to purchase. Tier 1 tickets are considered to be Premium seating and cost £20, whilst the £15 tickets are referred to as being ‘Listening Seats’ as they tend to offer a restricted view. This means that you can pick the budget that best suits you and still enjoy the fun. The concert is family-friendly, whilst those with accessibility needs will find the cathedral an excellent place to visit. You should dress warmly and comfortably, whilst festive attire is welcomed. The evening is expected to finish at around 9pm.
