If you have watched any of the Summer Olympics then you will no doubt have seen competitive climbing, which was first introduced to the Olympics officially at Tokyo 2020. It is entirely common for people to see something on the TV and decide they want to give it a go, so anyone who has got the climbing bug, perhaps after seeing a Mission Impossible film, for example, will be delighted to learn of the existence of Blue Spider Climbing Centre. There are as many options for new climbers as there are for seasoned ones, so you can get involved no matter what your level is and see how you get on.

Adult Courses

Blue Spider Climbing Centre logoIf you’re a beginner then you will no doubt want to know what you can expect to be asked to do when you head along to the Blue Spider Climbing Centre. The first place that you will probably want to start is at the Bouldering section, which asks you to climb on walls that are about 3.5 metres in height. You don’t have to wear a rope or anything here, making it an interesting and thrilling challenge to take on. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, however, you can opt for the Rope Climbing area, which is becoming more and more popular. You get the assistance of a harness and a belay device, climbing up to to ten metres high.

There is weekly social session, which is ideal for those that have not really done much rope climbing before and are looking for a climbing partner. You can also head along for a coaching session, which is ideal for those that wish to get a taste for what indoor climbing is all about, or who wish to learn to climb. If you have already gained sufficient experience then you can take part in sessions that are designed to push you further and help you to gain more experience. You can also book a private coaching session to really ensure that you can push your climbing ability to the furthest reaches, pushing yourself as far as you can.

Children’s Courses

As you might imagine, climbing is something that some kids absolutely love to do. It is the kind of activity that lets them really push themselves as well as take advantage of the fearlessness that young people often demonstrate. The first place to start is with a taster session, which are open to kids aged five and over and promise all sorts of themes that kids love. In keeping with the name of the venue, you could book your child onto a Casual Creepy Crawlies course, for example, or a Casual Arachnids course. The age of the young person that you’re looking to book for will be the deciding factor in terms of which course to book.

If your youngster has had a go at a taster session and enjoyed it then one of the things you can look to do is to get them signed up for a termly club. They run from January to March, April to July and September to December, with group lessons for kids aged five and over. Whether you’re just looking for something fun for them to do or would like to encourage them to learn more about climbing, the choice is there. You can also look to see if there are any drop-in sessions on offer. Once your young one has turned 14, the options for them from a climbing point of view tend to open up quite considerably, including working up to climbing unsupervised.

Climbing Parties

The joy of climbing is that it is not only really fun but also something that seems quite cool. It can help to separate the people that are really brave from those that just pretend to be. If you would like to book a climbing party then you can do so for groups of up to four with one instructor or groups of between five and eight with two, presuming that all of the participants are aged between five and seven. If they are eight and older then you can have a longer session with more participants. One instructor can look after up to six participants, whilst two instructors can let you have as many as 12 people taking part.

Climbing parties offer not only the ability to take on the Bouldering area, but also the Top Roping section. You can harnesses and helmets included, plus there are games to play at at the end of the session. If you wish to then you can add food to the package for an extra cost. Regardless, the birthday packages are fine for inexperienced climbers as well as those that have done it before, taking on routes that are set by some of the best route-setters in the country as well as in-house staff. It is an excellent party to do for those that like a bit of an adventure.
