Black Sheep’s Back, Alright! Popular Coffee Shop Returns After Sudden Closure

A few weeks ago, we wrote a story about how Black Sheep Coffee had closed the doors on its Guildford shop, seemingly never to return. The good news for those that liked the coffee on offer there is that the shop reopened on the 22nd of October, allowing everyone who enjoyed its offerings to head along and show some love to the staff working there.

We also now know the reason for the initial closure, which was put down to some building work that was going on at the time. Guildford as plenty of coffee shops on offer, so those that like to explore their options will be delighted.

What Happened

Black Sheep Coffee logoHaving first opened for business in the November of 2022, Black Sheep Coffee earned a reputation with those that like to drink such hot drinks as being a good place to go and do just that. Then, in the July of this year, a notice was put up in the window confirming its closure, without offering any real details of why it had done so. Thankfully, we’re able to shed a little bit more light on that after the bosses at Black Sheep Coffee, which is a wider chain, confirmed that they had taken the decision to close to Guildford store for a short period whilst some building work was going on.

The company’s co-founder, Eirik Holth, confirmed to a local newspaper that the company was due to return. He said, “We’re thrilled to bring Black Sheep Coffee’s signature flavours and rebellious Robusta blend back to Guildford. We’re bringing back a place for everyone to enjoy our speciality Robusta blend, signature Norwegian Waffles, 100 per cent ceremonial grade Matcha and much more. We can’t wait to welcome the local community back in, see you there!” The enthusiasm displayed by the company’s co-owner will likely be shared by its regular customers.

When It Will Be Open

Black Sheep’s presence in Guildford was welcomed by many in the town, thanks to the fact that it took over the building that had previously been occupied by Burger King but which had stood empty for some time in the wake of the fast food restaurant’s closure. Whilst some were quick to bemoan the fact that Guildford has plenty of coffee shops and didn’t necessarily need another one, others were delighted to discover that the popular chain had chosen the town as one of its new locations. Many went on Facebook to explain how they thought it was ‘a real shame’ that it had closed.

Now we know that it has opened back up, serving coffee, light bites and various other drink selections to Guildford residents once more from the 22nd of October onwards. If you would like to get along and buy some of the company’s wares, here is a look at the standard opened hours:
