If we’re all being honest with ourselves, we would have to admit that kids are difficult to keep entertained. They tend to boast a short attention span and if you don’t wan’t to just dump them in front of a TV screen or let them sit and play on the computer all day then you have to look at what other options there are.
Thankfully, Guildford is the kind of town that promises numerous different things for your little ones to do depending on what time of year it is, with the beauty of Tuff Nutterz being that you can do it with them if you fancy.
What on Earth is Tuff Nutterz?
If you don’t know much about Tuff Nutterz then the first question you will like have is about what on earth it actually is. That is an entirely reasonable one, especially considering the fact that the name isn’t exactly one that screams ‘child friendly’. The good news is that child friendly is exactly what the company looks to offer when it comes to its Tuff Nutterz course. In fact, it is so child friendly that adults are encouraged to sit back and relax whilst the younger ones that are under their care throw themselves into the Tuff Nutterz activity.
In terms of what’s on offer, this is a 300-metre long course that is made up of an inflatable maze. Don’t worry, though, that isn’t all there is to it. You aren’t going to be sitting there waiting for your coffee to cool down so you can enjoy a moment of peace and quiet just for your young ones to appear in front of you having immediately figured out how to get around the course. In reality there are as many as 30 different obstacles and challenges for them to complete as they make their way around the course, keeping them occupied for long enough for you to even get to read some of your paper.
The maze itself is something that offers plenty of challenging twists and turns that will keep anyone busy, but when you add in the likes of climbing walls, huge slides, hanging rails and balance balls, to name but a few, you can soon see why it is that kids absolutely love spending their time exploring what Tuff Nutterz has to offer. Anyone over the age of five can head off on their own, whilst those under five or with Special Educational Needs will have to have a carer or responsible adult head along with them to make sure they’re safe and enjoying themselves.
When You Can Go

One of the key things about Tuff Nutterz is also one of the best things from the point of view of a parent or guardian worrying about what their child is going to be doing, which is that it is a ticketed event. That means that you won’t be chucking them into a bear pit filled with hundreds of fellow rapscallions wrestling with one another for supremacy or in order to be the first ones to head down a slide. The say is split up into different session times, which are as follows:
- 9am until 10.45am
- 11am until 12.45pm
- 1pm until 2.45pm
- 3pm until 4.45pm
It is worth bearing in mind that timings can change.
That means that there are plenty of chances for you to get along with the little person in your life and give them a chance to get some energy out of their system by running around the inflatable maze. It is also worth bearing in mind that you can join in with the entire experience, if you’re brave enough to do so. Cue arguments between partners, desperately trying to persuade their kids that the other one is the best person to go into the maze with on account of not wanting to have to embarrass themselves with split trousers or a feeling of exhaustion.
Things to Think About

As you might imagine for something like Tuff Nutterz, there are a few things that you will want to bear in mind before you buy your tickets and head along. The earlier sessions tend to be the quieter ones, so if you have particularly young or massively shy young people in your control then you might want to consider heading along to the earliest session you can manage. Even though you can leave the kids to their own devices, responsible adults do still have to remain on-site throughout; this isn’t a drop and go type situation.
All participants have to sign a waiver before heading out on to the course, with groups with more than one adult needing to sign as many waivers as there are adults involved. You can buy tickets on the door, but obviously this is dependant on availability so you would do well to buy them ahead of time. Spectators don’t need tickets, just the people heading into the inflatable maze. If you’re worried about the weather than you needn’t be, with the name Tuff Nutterz representing the fact that not even wind or rain can stop the fun.
If it is raining lightly then it is worth ensuring that you’ve got some spare clothes for whoever is taking part in the Tuff Nutterz activity. The surfaces will obviously be slippery in such an instance, so care must be taken when going around the course. Wearing socks with grip-tread soles can be a good way of coping with the wet provided by rain. If there is a weather event that could be considered to present a possible risk of life then obviously Tuff Nutterz won’t allow anyone to be put in danger, so sessions can be postponed or canceled if that is seen as necessary.
